ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS

Youth Trip to Oakland

The Extreme Team youth group went to Oakland on August 3, 2007 to assist College Avenue Presbyterian Church.  College Avenue is a fairly small church with a huge heart, and they had a church work day planned for the weekend after our group went down, so we were able to give them a head start and lift their load a little.  Their pastor recently retired and they are currently in the process of getting ready to call a new pastor.

This was a wonderful trip and the group worked HARD.  A number of adults went along, so there were actually more adults than youth.  Our group went by Amtrac to the Bay Area station where they took BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from there to the station near the church.  After arriving, they started cleaning the kitchen and cleaning the floor in the fellowship hall (about 300 square feet of tile), and cleaning all the tables and table clothes.  On Friday nights, the church provides a dinner to the homeless.  Our youth served the dinner, which the volunteers of the church cooked.  There were 75 to 90 people and our kids were gracious and wonderful!

Our group spent the night at the church, then got up early Saturday morning and finished cleaning the church kitchen. A couple of the men helped with plumbing issues AND cleaning.  Others cleaned out a closet in the Sunday School area. It was a real job they had to move everything out of this huge closet/room and arrange all the stuff and put it back.  Check out our photos and story!

Vacation Bible School

APC is known for some great Vacation Bible School experiences. In 2007, Auburn Presbyterian Church was transformed into Avalanche Ranch.
